What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is simply a guided meditation with a purpose or a therapeutic visualization.  It is a natural state we all go into, an altered state of consciousness which lies between the waking state and sleep.  A state of highly focused concentration that allows you access to the information stored in your subconscious mind.

Hypnosis is not…

Mind control, as you are in complete control the whole time.  Hypnosis can not make you do anything that goes against your core beliefs.  You can not be brainwashed with hypnosis as you must agree to any suggestion in order for it to be effective.

I can’t make you cluck like a chicken or bark like a dog unless you want too!

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a highly effective tool to bring about changes and often works quickly. The purpose of Hypnotherapy is to utilize the power of your mind in order to bring about profound changes in your thoughts, behaviors and beliefs.  Hypnotherapy is completely safe and has no harmful side effects.  Research has shown that Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective way to treat stress, making it perfect for professionals that need a drug free way to deal with stress.  Transpersonal Hypnotherapy believes that Hypnosis is the bridge between the Mind, Body and Spirit.

What can I expect in a session?

You can expect to be relaxed.  Not all clients go into a deep level of trance.  I always tell my clients that if they feel relaxed but are still consciously aware they are still receiving benefits from the session.  We’ll talk about your goals and what you want to accomplish with the session.  You are free to record the session or have someone attend it with you if that makes you feel more comfortable.  You can come to my home office or I will travel to you within a reasonable distance, or we can use Skype.  You don’t have to do anything special, the session is all about you and the most important thing is that you are comfortable.  You are actually the one doing the work, I’m just the facilitator guiding you to where you need to go to do the work you need to do.

What do I need to do in a session?

The biggest thing you need to do in a session is relax.  In order to enter into a state of hypnosis you must be able to close your eyes, keep them closed and be able to focus.  If you are not able to do any of these things then you won’t be able to enter into a state of hypnosis.  If you do have problems with keeping your eyes closed and focusing, I can still work with you using different techniques and that is something that we need to discuss prior to your first session.
